Getting Started with Breastfeeding

If you plan to breastfeed, a lactation consultant will visit you during your hospital stay and will provide information, assistance, and support. We have Certified Lactation Counselors and International Board Certified Lactation Consultants on staff. These nurses have received additional specialized training in helping moms and babies with breastfeeding.

After you go home, the lactation nurses will call to see how you and your baby are doing and can answer any additional questions you may have. Breastfeeding assistance is available from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday - Friday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. most weekends by leaving a message on the lactation support line at 904.819.4353. Mom-To-Mom Breastfeeding Chat Time & Support Groups

At UF Health Flagler Hospital

When: Every Monday from 1:30 – 2:45 p.m. (except on holidays)

Location: UF Health Flagler Hospital, 400 Health Park Blvd. St Augustine, FL, 32086. Suite 4001

Directions: Come through the hospital’s main entrance, and take the elevators to the Fourth Floor Doctor’s Building (exit to the left from the elevator)

Please check the hospital website for updates on any breastfeeding support groups as times and locations may change over the course of the year.

Social distancing, limited attendance, and masks will be required following COVID-19 restrictions. Please do not attend if you are sick, have symptoms consistent with COVID-19, or have been in contact with someone known or under suspicion of having COVID-19.
