Flagler Health Care Foundation manages a variety of designated funds. Donors can choose the fund they wish to benefit with their gift, or they can designate their gift to be used where it is most needed via our General Unrestricted Fund.

General/Unrestricted Fund

This fund is not restricted to one designation and is used to improve the greatest areas of need at Flagler Health+. The unrestricted fund provides critical support to programs, staffing, and equipment that help to improve patient care on an annual basis at Flagler Health+.

Bariatric Surgery Fund

This fund assists Bariatric patients without insurance or with limited financial resources to pay for their medical care.

Cancer Care Fund

This fund provides support for the resources available at the Cancer Education and Support Center (CESC) including the Breast Cancer Patient Navigator program. Families can visit the CESC for cancer support groups, educational materials and other information regarding cancer diagnosis. The patient navigation program helps guide patients through and around barriers in the complex cancer care system to help ensure timely diagnosis, treatment and support.

Cancer Patient Emergency Fund

This fund assists cancer patients undergoing treatment at Flagler Health+ who are facing financial hardships due to the costs of their medical needs. Gifts to the Cancer Patient Emergency Fund provide patient assistance for medications, appointment transportation and childcare along with other services that the patient cannot afford while undergoing costly cancer treatment.

Cardiovascular Care Fund

The Flagler Heart and Rhythm Center at Flagler Hospital provides a critical service to residents of St. Johns County and the surrounding areas, with more than 275 open heart surgeries performed annually. Gifts to the Cardiovascular Care Fund help to provide critical funding for the resources and equipment that help to maintain the highest standard of quality care for our cardiac patients.

Care Connect+ Fund

Care Connect+ was established by Flagler Health+ to support its vision for community based care. The goal is to improve the health and well-being of our overall community by addressing social and environmental factors that can get in the way. There are many programs in the community to keep you and your family safe and healthy, it's just a matter of connecting with Care Connect+ to get started. Donations to the Care Connect+ Fund support the many services and program offerings that Care Connect provides to our community. To learn more visit

Clark & Alice Alger Tranquility Garden Fund

Thanks to a generous gift made by Clark and Alice Alger, the Tranquility Garden at Flagler Hospital opened in January of 2009. The garden provides a peaceful place for patients, families, visitors and employees to reflect, meditate, and relax throughout the year. Gifts to this fund support the Tranquility Garden’s ongoing maintenance to sustain and enhance its beauty.

Daniel Maj Scholarship Fund

Established in memory of a former Flagler Hospital Radiology Technician, Daniel Maj, this fund assists Radiology students and graduate students with the costs of their educational training programs.

Dr. Warren Kluger Memorial Library Fund

Named in memory of the late Dr. Warren Kluger, this fund supports the resources available in the medical library at Flagler Hospital which provides physicians and their colleagues with access to the most up-to-date medical journals and information.

Emergency Care Services Fund

The 48-bed Emergency Care Center at Flagler Hospital is committed to providing patients with compassionate, quality care, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Gifts to the Emergency Care Services Fund help to provide essential resources and equipment to maintain the highest standard of quality care for our ER patients.

Facial Rejuvenation Center Foundation for Skin Cancer

This fund assists St. Johns County residents without insurance or with financial limitations to pay for essential skin cancer treatments and procedures.

Florence Nightingale Educational Fund

Inspired by Florence Nightingale’s commitment to patient care, this fund provides scholarships and grants for Flagler Health+ nurse training and educational programs.

Joanne Arnett Tutschek Fund

Established in memory of breast cancer survivor, Joanne Arnett Tutschek, by her loving family and friends. This fund provides grants for important breast cancer diagnostic programs at Flagler Health+ to patients ages 50-65 without insurance coverage or financial means to pay.

Joseph S. Gordy Employee Emergency Fund

Established by Flagler Hospital’s third president/CEO Joseph S. Gordy and his wife Maggie, this fund provides immediate financial assistance to Flagler Health+ employees who have experienced an emergency and/or an unexpected financial hardship.

Joshua Turnage Critical Care Education Fund

Dr. Sherman and Kendra Turnage established the Joshua Turnage Critical Care Education Fund to honor their son, artist Joshua Turnage. They approached Flagler Health+ with their interest in helping to support the continuing education of our Critical Care Nursing and Education Department teams. Grants from the fund will be used to make it possible for individuals to attend conferences such as the National Teaching Institute (NTI). Mrs. Kendra Turnage will work closely with senior leadership from Critical Care Nursing and the Education Department to establish grant guidelines and to review procedures for applicants. After participating in these educational opportunities, grant recipients will be expected to share their knowledge and learnings through a presentation to their peers, Mrs. Kendra Turnage and Mr. Joshua Turnage.

Medical Staff Education Fund

This fund provides resources for Grand Rounds presentations and other educational services provided to Flagler Health+ medical staff.

Patient Care Emergency Fund

This fund provides grants for medical services and/or supplies for current or previous patients of Flagler Health+ without insurance or with limited financial resources.

Patrick S. Nelson Fund

Established in memory of Patrick S. Nelson, this fund supports the Mental Health Services Department at Flagler Hospital and provides mental health outpatient treatment for patients with depression, psychosis and other serious mental disorders without insurance or with limited financial resources.

Pediatric Orthopaedic Fund

This fund assists families without insurance or with limited financial resources when their children require essential orthopaedic care.

Plus Bus Fund

The Plus Bus Mobile Clinic offers a tailored, high-impact and affordable health care solution, capable of responding dynamically to the community's evolving needs. Our aim is to improve health outcomes and quality of life for people in vulnerable populations by providing clinical care and connections to resources including primary care, women's health services, chronic disease management and education, diagnostic testing, wound care and cancer screening. A gift to the Plus Bus Fund supports these services offerings and keeps them affordable to our patients.

Renal Fund

This fund assists Renal patients without insurance or with limited financial resources to pay for their medical care.

Women and Children’s Services Fund

This fund supports the Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatric, and Neonatal Intensive Care Units at Flagler Health+. Gifts to the Women and Children’s Services Fund help to maintain the highest standard of quality care for our patients.

Youth and Behavioral Health Fund

In St. Johns County, the teen suicide rate has sadly reached a 20-year high. This fund was established to support youth behavioral health programs and provide more mental health resources for students in St. Johns County schools.
