ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — UF Health St. Johns has welcomed two new primary care physicians: Ashley Brooks, M.D., a board-certified family medicine physician seeing patients at UF Health Primary Care – Nocatee, and Fawaz Katmeh, M.D., a board-certified internal medicine physician who sees patients at UF Health Primary Care – Whetstone Place.
“I’d like to welcome Dr. Brooks and Dr. Katmeh to our esteemed roster of primary care physicians as we continue to expand our primary care services throughout the North Florida community,” said Mark Michaels, M.D., vice president and chief medical officer of primary and ambulatory services. “As part of our dedicated team of physicians, both doctors will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of care we provide to our patients.”
Brooks’ clinical interests include preventive care, diabetes management, women's health, nutrition, and weight management. She obtained her medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada and completed her family medicine residency at the University of South Florida Health Morsani College of Medicine in Tampa. She also earned her bachelor’s degree with a focus in nutrition and economics at the University of Florida.
Katmeh earned his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, graduating cum laude. He completed his internal medicine residency at the University of South Florida Health Morsani College of Medicine in Tampa. Additionally, he worked as a medical assistant at the Prince Salman Heart Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Katmeh grew up admiring his father, a cardiologist, who performed life-changing procedures. The most rewarding part of the job for him is making a difference in a patient’s life and seeing their quality of life improve.
