ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — UF Health Flagler Hospital is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its chaplain program, a key part of patient care since 1999. Over the past 25 years, hospital chaplains have provided comfort and emotional support to countless patients, their families, and staff.
Starting small, the program has grown to include 25 dedicated volunteer chaplains. These volunteers come from diverse backgrounds and faith traditions, but all share a common goal: to provide spiritual care, comfort, and hope to those in need. Whether offering prayers, listening, or simply being present, these chaplains play a crucial role in helping patients and their loved ones navigate challenging health situations.
Volunteer chaplains are essential to the hospital’s mission of compassionate care. When patients face illness, injury, or loss, chaplains provide a calm and reassuring presence. Their support can make a huge difference in the emotional and spiritual well-being of patients and their families.
“As we celebrate 25 years of this important program, we express deep gratitude to the chaplains who have dedicated their time and care to our community. Their compassion and kindness continue to be a cornerstone of the patient experience at UF Health Flagler Hospital,” said Kerry Watson, Interim CEO of UF Health St. Johns.
“We look forward to many more years of service through the chaplain program, providing comfort and spiritual care to patients, families, and staff when they need it most.”
