Michael J. Koren, MD, FACC, became American Board Certified in internal medicine in 1991 and in cardiovascular disease in 2002.
Dr. Koren graduated with honors from Harvard Medical School and completed his postgraduate training at Weill Cornell Medical Center and Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, where he served as chief resident in medicine during his third year. As a cardiology fellow, he published several notable scientific papers.
He moved to the Jacksonville, Florida, area in 1991, where he raised his family. In 2000, he founded Apex Cardiovascular Group, and in 2018, he joined First Coast Heart & Vascular Center. He specializes in preventive cardiology, heart rhythm disorders, valvular disease and nuclear cardiology.
Dr. Koren has published extensively in leading medical journals including, The New England Journal of Medicine, Circulation and The Lancet. In his spare time, he plays competitive soccer and composes music.
